Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Clementina Stirling Graham, of Duntrune, was the author of Mystifications, edited by Dr John Brown, physician, and friend to Mrs Graham, which was published in 1865 (originally privately published in 1859). Kin to John Graham of Claverhouse (Viscount Dundee), Clementina spent her time between Edinburgh and Duntrune and was awarded a medal from the Highland Society for her translation from the French of The Bee Preserver. Through the Edinburgh circle of Whigs she had social relations with Jeffrey and Cockburn, but mingled freely with all classes of society. Her charity and wit has been documented.
