Scope and Content

Typescript letters and invitations for Britten to attend the Benjamin Britten Society's first and second productions; Curlew River and The Burning Fiery Furnace.

Includes publicity material, posters, programmes, typescript history and plot of the play, newspaper reviews from the Cambridge Evening News and Daily Telegraph.

Typescript letters from Rosamund Strode, Britten's assistant, congratulate them on their performances and explain Britten's absences. Strode also requests tickets to The Burning Fiery Furnace, and Britten donates money to the Society during their performances at the Cambridge Festival.

Letters are from Richard Stuart, secretary to the society.
