Scope and Content

File containing correspondence between Caroline Hutton, owner of Women's Revolutions Per Minute (WRPM), and independent Australian women's music record companies Good Thing Enterprises/Crafty Maid Music. The majority of the correspondence relates to the procurement by WRPM of albums by Judy Small (Australian women's music singer-songwriter) issued by Good Thing Enterprises/Crafty Maid Music. Small was also the owner of the two labels. The majority of the correspondence is with Margaret McAllister, Small's personal and business partner. Subjects covered include: an initial approach by McAllister to WRPM for UK distribution; a discussion of distribution rights in UK; the possibilities for marketing and promotion of Small; the creation of Crafty Maid Music and its relationship to Good Thing; a US tour by Small and McAllister in 1984; WRPM's plans for a women's music record label; the release of 'One Voice in the Crowd' (album) by Small and its more political tone; a possible tour of UK by Small in 1985; the ending of Small and McAllister's personal relationship; the release by Redwood Records of 'Home Front' (album) by Small; and possibility of selling WRPM stock for Small at Mitfyn Festival in Copenhagen, 1989. The file also includes 1 letter received by Hutton from Sue Dyson at Crafty Maid Music informing WRPM that its proposed purchase price for Small's albums is too low for Crafty Music to be able to sell at (23 September 1991).
