Sorry Sir John is in such straits but there is so little money come in lately, the whole army was ready to disband. Other garrisons are even further behind. Hopes he will soon be sent a good sum. Glad to hear of 'your son's' successes, and that Sir John and Lord Fairfax concur well. Is one of a committee to confer with Essex about conditions for ceasing hostilities; which he hopes may be contrived but, until it is, 'the industry of the Army there' must not slacken.
