Administrative / Biographical History

John Mackay & Company (Newcastle) Ltd was an aerated waters manufacturing and bottling company. The firm became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd in 1965  , and had ceased trading by 1975  . In 1983  the company name was changed to Mackay's Soft Drinks Ltd .

Custodial History

The collection was previously stored with the rest of the Scottish Brewing Archive at Heriot-Watt University. Custody of the Scottish Brewing Archive was transferred to Glasgow University Archive Services in 2008.
