Scope and Content

LETTER: F. V. C. Serjeant, 1 Pte Genevieve Avenue, Quebec City, Canada to [E. Madoc Jones]. He was so pleased to have his Christmas letter with so much news. It was a sad Christmas for F. V. C. S. because his wife of 37 years died in November. He is still teaching at Quebec High School in the mornings and finds it arduous work as he will be 72 in a few days. Some of his neighbours at Purley have moved to Deganwy and he asks E. M. J. to look them up. He remembered Rowlands and was pleased to hear of Rheinallt Jones. He refers to Mr Stockdale seeing E. M. J. off the ship Athenia in 1936. He sailed on that ship once. He went out West to spend Christmas with his brother and got lost on the prairie on Christmas afternoon. He describes what happened.
