Scope and Content

LETTER: Harold Gant, 7 Margaret Street, Beaumaris to Mr Madoc Jones. He is writing on this occasion instead of Mrs Gant. He wishes them all a happy Christmas. He mentions that Beaumaris are putting forth a great effort for a "welcome home fund". Mrs Gant was re-elected president of the Women's Institute. The school has formed a fourth school house and named it 'Rowlands' House after General Sir Hugh Rowlands, V. C. He notices that Rowlands's name is listed among the Beaumaris "old boys". He would be pleased to receive more details about this famous soldier. He believes he was born at Llanrug and they do not want Friars to claim him as they have done in the case of Goronwy Owen. He discusses the school he is at and also mentions their change of address and the fact that Glyn married Miss Connolly. They had trouble with their lodgers. They hope to go to Newbridge to Mrs Gant's sister for a week. He does not envy the early rising and long bus journey of the pupils from Dwyran and Newborough. They hope to visit the Madoc Jones family in Old Colwyn in the new year.
