Scope and Content

LETTER: Rennie [J. D. Rheinallt Jones] P. O. Box 97, Johannesburg to Mr. & Mrs. Madoc Jones. They have been very busy and have moved out of their home which they had sold. Congratulates Mr. & Mrs. Madoc Jones on their golden wedding. He is writing from a beautiful farm belonging to friends where he is having his first holiday since 1938. They are both very weary and live at high pressure. Their friends on the farm have citrus fruit and they have a marmalade factory on the farm which is lovely and clean. He has ordered a tin of marmalade to be sent to Mr. & Mrs. Madoc Jones. Edith and himself are increasingly called upon by Government Missions etc. for advice. His defeat in the Senate elections made it possible for him to concentrate on the work of the Institute of Race Relations. The defeat shocked the native people as much as it shocked the Government and himself and his successor is proving to be thoroughly mischevious. They read with great interest the reports of the new Education Bill. He serves on a Government Commission on Adult Education. Helen has 4 children.
