Since returning from a trip to Devonshire, Boyd has been unwell with diarrhoea. Has seen Dr Kidd and Dr Brown “an old stiff fellow.” Now requests that Mackenzie visits him both as a “Doctor & as a friend.” Also wishes Mackenzie’s advice about what he and Gray should do - whether to go to Devonshire, near London or Leith.
