Asks if Mackenzie will give security for him in respect of his tailor in London. Also asks Mackenzie to buy him a pair of spectacles as he is unable to see any object beyond 20 yards. The fever which has been “depopulating the colony, has now subsided…for weeks we witnessed 3 or 4 funerals daily at the Fort, and as many if not more every week upon these estates….The mortality in the latter case was from Chincough, & confined entirely to the children. Our loss has been peculiarly severe from the number of the children who had Yaws with it.
