Correspondence: Parish finances, repairs of the chancel, an exchange of land with Sir John Stanley

Scope and Content

CORRESPONDENCE: Parish finances, repairs of the chancel, an exchange of land with Sir John Stanley to facilitate the erection of a new Church at Holyhead (1857) and letting of glebe land for building.

In the 1786 copy letter it is stated that Sir John Stanley could claim no exemption from payment of tithe of hay from his demesne of Penrhos 'but it must be left to the College, as no tenant will ever dispute it'.

Payments from Queen Anne's Bounty to supplement the stipend, payment for a suitable residence for the curate of Bodedern.

A letter from T. Bodychan Sparrow, Gwyndy asking for a contribution towards the testimonial to the departing curate of Llandrygarn and Bodedern as he had worked hard for the Church 'he has done so in such a way as not to give offence to others, so much so that he had trebled the congregation at Llandrygarn'.
