LETTER: Simon Langford, [curate of] Holyhead to Humphrey Owen [Bursar] requesting an increase of salary from £32 to £35 years in proportion to the increased rent paid to Mr Owen.
He protests that he had only accepted the £32 thinking Mr Owen's rent was £130 and that the sender was doing the College a service.
He had been a great sufferer by transactions carried out without his privity as he was justly entitled to a fourth part.
He had made previous representations to the College but found no redress of grievance and had neither will nor power to contest with the College.
He mentions the possible addition of Queen Anne's Bounty to augment the salaries of ministers as mentioned to him by Dr Jones the late Principal.
