Letter

Scope and Content

Letter from Lady Frances Harpur to Mary Hamilton. The letter relates to the Duke of Cumberland as well as more general news. Harpur writes with a medicinal recipe for Hamilton. The recipe, which comprises of a poultice of bread and milk which is then applied to the naval, had previously cured a man (so she has been told) who had been suffering with inflammation of the bowels. Harpur notes that she cannot vouch to the truth of this.

Harpur also writes on the Duke of Cumberland (see HAM/1/16/73) and is much thankful that he is doing well but wishes to know more on the state of his body and mind.

Dated at Lavington House, [Sussex].
