Two notes from Lady Catherine Herries to Mary Hamilton, relating to Herries's health: Herries has been ill with an eye complaint which affected her sight.
In the first note she writes that as Hamilton does not like to see her sad she will try and forget her 'miseries' and in the second she writes that her eyesight has improved and she wants to 'profit' by it by going to see 'Christie's pictures'. She also asks Hamilton to 'remember I have no thought of sharing your allegiance to Mrs [Elizabeth] Carter about the other Exhibition where I go tomorrow'.
