The sub-series consists of two sub-subseries. HAM/1/3/1 comprises letters to Mary Hamilton from her mother-in-law, Sarah Dickenson. HAM/1/3/2 consists of letters to Mary from her sister-in-law Sarah Dickenson, Countess Palombi; her father-in-law, John Dickenson Senior; and her daughter, Louisa Dickenson. The correspondence is arranged by author and in chronological order.
