Scope and Content

Minutes, 1913-c1978; salesman's recollections.

The collection forms part of the archive of the British Clothing Industry Association (MSS.222), in which the records of various predecessor and related organisations are contained. Additional records were deposited in 2010.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Federation was founded in 1913 to represent shirt and collar manufacturers' interests in relation to the Board of Trade. Its scope widened in 1920 when it was joined by the London Tie Manufacturers' Association.
