Volume of ancient armour and castles drawn by Sir Robert Ker Porter, consisting of a frontispiece; title page; pages numbered i-viii; the main section, pp. 1-683; and an index, pp. 673-680 (to 'L' only). The main text ends at p. 168, and the rest of the volume contains mainly notes on and facing the illustrations. Many of the figures are in colour. There are plans and paintings of castles from p. 571, all of which are English examples, with the exception of pp. 632-635.

Sir Robert Ker Porter (1777-1842), artist, was a protg of Benjamin West from 1790 and an academy student at Somerset House. He painted chiefly battle scenes.
