Administrative / Biographical History

Joseph Turner and Co. Ltd started manufacturing chemicals at Queensferry Chemical Works, Queensferry, Flintshire, in about 1884. The company appears to have been bought by Midland Tar Distillers Ltd (later Midland-Yorkshire Tar Distillers) in 1933, and operated until 1947. In 1975, Midland-Yorkshire Tar Distillers was bought by Croda.
