KNUTSFORD TEST SCHOOL, RECORDS

Scope and Content

Knutsford Test School, a school for candidates who wished to be trained for ordination into the Church, was based at the Old Rectory, Hawarden, from January 1927 onwards. It was previously at Knutsford Gaol, Knutsford, Cheshire, until larger premises were required and it moved to Hawarden. The school remained in the Old Rectory until the building was requisitioned for evacuees during the Second World War.
