Scope and Content

The collection consists of 12 unframed prints, some of which were printed in the print studios at Birmingham School of Art in Margaret Street while others were made at the London studio of Jean Vaudeau, lecturer in print-making at Birmingham School of Art. The portfolio is number 24 of a limited edition of 25. There is also a list of staff from the Birmingham School of Art who contributed to the portfolio, together with one of the 24 organisations who accepted the remaining copies of the portfolio. The artists are listed in the names index.

Administrative / Biographical History

Designed by John Henry Chamberlain, Birmingham School of Art was completed in 1885. The prints and frontispiece in this collection were created by staff at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design’s School of Fine Art as part of the celebrations to mark the centenary of the erection of the building in Margaret Street that were organised by Jean Vaudeau.

Arrangement

There are two files within a single series: one consists of the prints, and the other of the papers relating to the collection. All are contained within a single portfolio.
