Scope and Content

The collection consists of:  

  • Commonplace book, belonging to Henry Acland, containing diary entries, miscellaneous notes and notes for lectures on clinical medicine, 1852-7
  • Visitors' book belonging to Sarah Angelina Acland, 1872-86

Administrative / Biographical History

Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bart. (1815-1900) was Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford 1858-94. For further details see Dictionary of National Biography. His daughter, Sarah Angelina ('Angie') was a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and the Royal Society of Arts.
