In consideration of œ200, Elryngton now sells to William Butler, citzen and grocer of London, to William's wife Anne, and to the lawful heirs of his body, the rectory, patronage, parsonage and advowson of Byddenham [Biddenham], Bedfordshire, remainder to William Lyghtfote, son of Edward Lyghtfote, remainder to John Lyghtfote, William's brother, remainder to Roger Lyghtfote, remainder to Joan Lyghtfote, William's sister, remainder to William Butler's right heirs, paying an annual rent of 23s 3d farthing to the king as a tenth (as part of the sum due from Elrington for the whole Denney property), œ8 to the vicar of Biddenham, and some smaller specified sums. Elrington guarantees the annual value of the property as œ10 clear of all such rents and charges. Indenture, signed by Elryngton and witnessed by Peter Aysheton on 27 April. Tag, seal wanting. Endorsed with memorandum of enrolment in chancery (32 Henry VIII). Further contemporary and later endorsements of identification.
