Administrative / Biographical History

Swansea Medical Society was established in 1876. Its objectives were the advancement of medical and surgical science and the diffusion of medical knowledge. It held regular meetings and established both a permanent and circulating library and museum. Members consisted of Registered Members of the medical profession who lived in the Swansea [Abertawe] area.

Custodial History

This collection forms part of the Royal Institution of South Wales Collection and was transferred from the Archives at University of Wales Swansea to West Glamorgan Archive Service in April 2004.
