Administrative / Biographical History

Preceded by a number of local guilds, the National Association of Local Government Officers was founded in July 1905. The title National and Local Government Officers' Association was adopted in 1952. In 1993 the association amalgamated with the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) and the Confederation of Health Service Employees (COHSE) to form UNISON.
