Scrapbook of Alfred Bottomley

Scope and Content

Bound in soft calf, containing cuttings of personal interest or relating to the Bottomley family, including some of Alfred Bottomley’s own letters to the press, and Gordon Bottomley’s schooldays. Includes: a small collection of mounted postcards with illustrations of various Welsh views; engraved portraits of Neal Dow, temperance reformer, Ernest Jones, chartist and poet, Daniel O’Donoghue, M.P., and Clara Lucas Balfour, temperance campaigner. Also contains photographs - mostly views of England and Wales, including many churches. Together with MS notes & poems by Alfred Bottomley, and a eulogy for John Bottomley (Alfred’s father), and a Bottomley family tree.
