Scope and Content

(1) Sculpture: Notices about and reproductions of antique and modern scultpure. Includes the works of George Frampton and Auguste Rodin, and an article by B. J. Fletcher entitled ‘The Artistic Treatment of Cast-iron’ from the British Foundrymen’s Association Annual Convention in London, June 21 – 24, 1913, and an essay on the work of Pittendrigh MacGillivray by Alexander MacGill from The Common Weal Magazine, Vol. IV, No.6 (June, 1928).(2) Decorative Art: Reproductions and articles concerning decorative art, including some photographs: of Greek vase painting; medieval mosaics; tapestry, textile design, embroidery etc.; interior decoration, including the work of C. F. A. Voysey; furniture, including designs by Edgar Wood, A. Wickham Jarvis, C. R. Mackintosh, Margaret and Frances MacDonald, Herbert McNair, and an article by W. R. Lethaby ‘Simple Furniture’ Dryad Leaflet Number 5 (Leicester, n.d.); jewellery; ceramics, and a mounted poster design by Giuseppe Riccobaldi. Also included here are some poster and bookplate designs by Macintosh and McNair, and pencil sketches of designs for a table and picture frame.
