Scope and Content

PUBLIC RECORDS.

Holywell Court records, 1847-1964, including plaint and minute books, 1847-1952; ledgers, 1849-1965; Mold Court records, 1856-1970, including plaint and minute books, 1856-1969; commitment summons books, 1949-1969; default actions books, 1953-1970; and registers of agreements, 1937-1970. There are no records relating to Rhyl/St Asaph Court.

Administrative / Biographical History

County courts are of medieval origin, but were established in their present form by Act of Parliament in 1846. The court is primarily concerned with civil cases relating to debt and bankruptcy. The Flintshire County Court is divided into three districts: Holywell, Mold/Flint and Rhyl/St Asaph. The detached Maelor part of Flintshire was administered as part of the Wrexham district of Denbighshire County Court.

Arranged into the following: Holywell County Court; and Mold County Court.
