The Evans family lived at Penarfynydd, a farm near Llanfaelrhys, Caernarfonshire, during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The family included Robert Evans [fl. 1830-1885], farmer, who was succeeded by Griffith Evans [alive 1878-1914]. Robert Evans held a share in the schooner, Quarry Man; the family also had an interest in the smack, Ebenezer.
