St Gregory's Foundation is not a true committee of the Governing Body. It is a separate foundation to which the University pays rent for use of the premises. It reports annually to the Governors and its minutes are held with the rest of the records of the Governing Body. Its first meeting in 1985 is recorded in the Governors' records.

It was originally known as St Gregory's Trust and in the mid 1990s there was an associated sub committee known firstly as St Gregory's Trust and Investment sub committee and then as St Gregory's Foundation and Investment sub committee.
