The series consists of crime scene and post mortem photographs taken by a variety of police identification bureaus to provide the department with additional information in its work as medico-legal examiner for the Crown. These photographs usually became part of the case file, but these remain separate to the case files because there is not enough contextual information to associate them with case files.
