Scope and Content

Records of theatrical productions by students of the Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-upon-Avon. The archive contains prompt books, video recordings, photographs, posters, programmes and reviews, but materials deposited can vary for each production.

Administrative / Biographical History

An amateur theatre company formed by students of the Shakespeare Institute, Stratford-upon-Avon, and known by various names including The Upstart Theatre Company, The Shakespeare Revellers, The Shakespeare Institute Players and What Larks! Performances are given at the Shakespeare Institute. The company performs plays by William Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Some of the lesser performed works include The London Prodigall, Measure for Measure, or Beauty the Best Advocate, by Charles Gildon, Hamlet: the Bad Quarto and King John.
