Administrative / Biographical History

John Peter ('Ioan Pedr'; 1833-1877), Independent minister and teacher and Welsh scholar, was born in Bala. In 1849 he established a literary society known as 'Cymdeithas Lenyddol Penllyn'. He was a keen student of languages and also contributed to several Welsh periodicals, becoming one of the editors of Y Cymmrodor.
