Scope and Content

From John Murlin in Bristol to Charles Wesley at the Foundery in London. He received Wesley's letter and as requested, visited all of the friends which were mentioned therein except for [William] Lunell but he expects to see him soon. He saw [Daniel] Jenkins several times before his death and was told by Jenkins that the Lord was always present. His affliction was great but it was borne with patience and cheerful resignation to the will of God. He died on Monday 13th inst. Murlin had been out of town on the Sunday night. Jenkins began to sink at 11 pm. He thanked God and then began to complain that his horse was very slow and that he wanted it to gallop. At 4 am he passed away. Murlin preached his funeral sermon last Tuesday to a very large audience.

He is concerned that 'we are in danger of ENTHUSIASM at present, yet I hope the holy fire of love do BURN IN MANY hearts. Lord encrease it more abondiently'. He thinks that the congregation at Bristol is as large as it has been for many years and that some have lately been converted. All the preachers and people are at peace.
