Scope and Content

A collection of 6 mounted boards with hand-drawn, hand-painted designs for shawls, featuring the Kashmir cypress cone or 'Paisley' pattern.

Administrative / Biographical History

These designs would have been transferred to woodblocks for the printing of shawls. The designs would have been devised by freelance designers or in-house by a shawl manufacturer for sale to manufacturers.

Glasgow School of Art Archives and Collections are open for research by appointment.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Designs are hand-drawn and hand-painted on paper and have been mounted on board for conservation reasons.
