Administrative / Biographical History
South Leicestershire Co-operative Society was formed in 1959 when Enderby Co-operative Society and Wigston Co-operative Society merged. Soon after Great Glen Co-operative Society transferred engagements to them. In 1964 Broughton Asteley Society transferred, 1965 Huncote and in 1967 Fleckney. In 1984 discussions took place regarding a merger with Leicestershire Co-operative Society. The discussions were successful and in Jan 1985 the two societies merged.
