Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Loughborough Co-operative Society was started in 1859 but early progress was very slow. However, by 1915 the society was flourishing and included a Women's Guild and an Education Committee. The society continued to progress and by 1957 they had 6590 members, 5 branch shops, a dairy, a coal depot and a printing works. In 1960 the society transferred engagments to Leicester Co-operative Society.
