'The Leacroft Legacy' at the Theatre Museum

The subseries contains cut-away drawings, photographs, sketches and designs by Richard Leacroft displayed in exhibitions.

Administrative / Biographical History

These materials were displayed at the Theatre Museum, now the V&A Department of Theatre and Performance, as part of the exhibition entitled 'The Leacroft Legacy', which opened at the Theatre Museum in Tavistock Street, London on 1st February 2000.


Folders are arranged by material size and format. The original order has been kept wherever was possible. They are arranged as follows:

  • Folder 1 - Boards containing photographs of theatres, set designs for productions performed in theatres in Leicester and reproduction of texts
  • Folder 2 - Reproduction of Mr. Leacroft is 'cut-away' drawings of a number of theatres, all on plastic tracing sheets attached to white boards
  • Folder 3 - Photographs of plays by Richard Leacroft for which he designed the sets, set models or theatres
  • Folder 4 - Set designs and sketches by Richard Leacroft
  • Folder 5 - Oversize set designs and illustrations by Richard Leacroft
