Scope and Content

1. Evan Jones of West Meade, Carmarthenshire, esquire.

2. Emma Garrick of Hampton, Middlesex, widow and relict of David Garrick late of the same place, esquire, deceased, one of the daughters and coheirs of Percival Hart late of Brentford, Middlesex, malt distiller, deceased.

3. John George Payne of Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, esquire, the Reverend Benjamin Jones of Swansea, and Richard Troward of Norfolk Street, in the Strand, Middlesex, gentlemen.

4. Henry Knight of Kingston, Surrey, esquire and Charles Nevinson of Duke Street, St James' Square, Middlesex, esquire.

PRENUPTIAL SETTLEMENT of the said Evan Jones and Emma Garrick. Whereas a marriage is agreed upon between the said Evan Jones and Emma Garrick. Whereas the said Emma as one of the daughters and coheirs of Percival Hart, deceased, is seized of one moiety of properties in Harrow-on-the-Hill parish, Middlesex, being freeholds and copyholds held of the manor of Harrow otherwise Sudbury, Middlesex, and she is also seized of a moiety or half of an undivided 4th part of certain freehold malt houses and hereditaments at Brentford, Middlesex, but subject to the dower of Mary wife of the Reverend John Cozens of Teddington, Middlesex, D D, late wife of the said Percival Hart, deceased, and the said Emma, is also seized for her life of a farm partly freehold and partly copyhold. The freehold thereof being in the parish of Copford and elsewhere in the county of Essex, the copyhold being held of the manor of Copford otherwise Copisford, Essex; and also for her life to capital messuages or mansion houses at Hampton, Middlesex being copyhold held of the honour and manor of Hampton Court, Middlesex, one of which is let at £198 14 0 yearly, and the other in the occupation of the said Emma. The said Evan Jones is seized of the reversion in fee simple expectant upon the decease of Elizabeth Protheroe of Dole Willim, Carmarthenshire, widow and relict of Evan Protheroe late of Dole Willim, esquire, deceased, and of all those lands in the parishes of Llangwydwen, Llanboidy, Kilymainllwyd, and Llangan, and he is also entitled on the death of his brother David Jones of Bath, clerk, if he dies without issue to certain lands, later specified. The said lands of the said Emma are now conveyed to the said John George Payne, the Reverend Benjamin Jones and Richard Troward on trust for the uses of the marriage and to secure £100 yearly to the said Emma “in the nature of pin money" and to pay the residue of the rents from her lands to the said Emma and Evan, the properties of Emma in Essex and Middlesex, (specified) are now conveyed to the said Trustees to the uses of marriage and the said Evan Jones grants to the said trustees those lands called Dolewillim Farm, together with the several cottages and pieces of ground thereby belonging to the parishes of Llangludwin and Kilmaenllwyd, also Bach Sulw Farm in the parish of Kilmaenllwyd, Blaengwainirrih Farm in the parish of Llangan, a cottage and piece of land in parish of Llangan, Penpontprin Farm in parish of Llanboidy to the uses of the marriage and issue.
