Scope and Content

Transcripts of the broadcasts, together with letters received from the public (including suggestions of topics for investigation which were not followed up). Subjects range from problems with freezer salesmen to issues of medical confidentiality.

Administrative / Biographical History

Between 1977 and 1985 the BBC broadcast a radio series on consumer problems called Checkpoint, hosted by Roger Cook.

Access Information

The collection is open to all bona fide researchers, by appointment only, telephone or email a week in advance of your intended visit. Researchers must abide by the conditions protecting the collection.

Acquisition Information

Donated by the Head of Consumer Affairs, British Broadcasting Corporation, in 1985, to the Mass-Observation Archive Trust which has deposited the collection with the University of Sussex.
