Administrative / Biographical History
In 1908 the United Kingdom's volunteer military forces were reorganized, with the yeomanry and volunteers consolidated into the Territorial Force. During the Second World War the Territorial Army doubled in size but in 1947 it was reconstituted as a part-time reservist force. The county Territorial & Auxiliary Forces Associations (T&AFAs) were created in 1908 to provide administrative support for these forces. Following the Second World War the separate Caernarfonshire and Anglesey T&AFAs were merged as the Anglesey and Caernarfonshire T&AFA, with a similar fate befalling the associations in Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire. In 1967 a further reorganization of the Territorial Army caused many regiments to lose their historic identities.
Arranged into the following: minute books of Caernarfon T&AFA; minute books of Anglesey T&AFA; minute books of Anglesey & Caernarfon T&AFA; financial records.
