Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The book “The Four Nations” or “The matter of Britain: episodes and opinions” or “The English and the Others: a modern history” was a project that Bernard Crick began in the 1980s, to look at the history and politics of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom. Due to work commitments and ill-health, Bernard was never able to complete the publication.
The files have been maintained in chapter order. A photograph was taken of the filing cabinet labels, to cross-reference with the intended chapters outlined in the introductory file.
