Scope and Content

F. Turner (Ochor-y-Gop) to Thomas Edwards, esq. (Rhuall): his patron proposes to engage a mathematician at the school there to teach the art of navigation, some part of geometry, the measuring of timber, glass, etc.; there will be a standing salary, with a house and garden and asks the recipient, therefore, to enquire after an honest dissenting mathematician, 'one Wm. we who are by providence cast here allready may go hand in hand along with towards or new Jerusalem'. Mr. Sympson may probably be helpful to them in the matter; is very glad of the company of Bro. Sam. Zech. there. Robert Williams is expected up and he had hoped to be able to see the recipient, but the return of the schoolchildren on 2 Jan. will necessitate his presence there.

Endorsed is an undated draft letter from Thomas Edwards to 'Jonathan', informing him that he and Mrs. Edwards cannot be with him that summer.
