Scope and Content

Brian Duppa (Ch[rist] Ch[urch College, Oxford]) to Evan Edwards (Sir Eubul Thelowell's lodging, Grayes Inne): the news of the Dean of Paul's recovery would please him, although he were sure to suceed him in all his places, but should he die, he (the writer) is not so far in love with London as to change Oxford for it; he wishes that his two remote livings were contracted into one good one, or that he had Senock in lieu of one of them, for St. Dunstans, he conceives it must go to the market; does not wish to have any contestation with Mr. Caldecott about the tithes, and he is prepared to submit the question of last year's tithes to the recipient's arbitration.
