PAPERS COLLECTED BY THE DEW FAMILY

Scope and Content

These papers were given to Oxfordshire Archives via the Bodleian Library, and were assigned the Accession Number 237.

The papers in this accession largely owe their existence to George James Dew of Lower Heyford, who held many offices within Bicester Poor Law Union between 1878 and 1923. In particular he collected many official records of the Bicester Poor Law Union, which might not otherwise have survived. These documents have now been catalogued separately as PLU2. The collection also included official papers from Stoke Lyne Parish and Souldern Church of England School. These have also been extracted, and may be found at PAR255/5/F1/1-3 and S244/1/A1/2.

Recatalogued in August 1994.
