Scope and Content

The collection comprises material formerly part of the CAABU research archive, and includes news clippings, grey literature, publications, photographs, slides and audio-visual material.

Administrative / Biographical History

CAABU is a not-for-profit organisation founded in London in 1967 by a group of politicians, journalists, academics and others with the aim of promoting positive relations with the Arab world in British politics and media and campaigning insupport of Arab and Palestinian rights. Its mission statement, in 2020, is to work for a British Middle East policy that promotes conflict resolution, human rights and civil society in the Arab world through informeddebate and mutual understanding. Directors of the organisation have included Michael Adams, John Reddaway and Chris Doyle (2002-). The Council's offices are located in the Arab British Centre in London.
