Scope and Content

Correspondence with James Farrant, apparently a friend of Schmidt from his days in Oxford, now working in television production. Topics include: his degree; his work for Independent Television News, London, and subsequently for Yorkshire Television and Thames Television; his desire to write, and uncertainty over whether to commit himself to a career in television; a highly critical review of Peter [Jones]'s book [the anthology Imagist poetry (1973)] in the Times Literary Supplement; and the possibility of Farrant undertaking a book on the 'New British Theatre' at Schmidt's suggestion.

Dated at: London; Woodford Green, Essex; Hoylake, Cheshire; Leeds, [North] Yorkshire; Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland; Jeddah [Saudi Arabia]; and Egypt.

Holograph and typescript.
