Correspondence, notes, circulars, annual reports and copies of resolutions relating to information and the establishment of influential contacts and publications on the Continent. Some letters and papers in French (virtually all correspondence in French followed by translations)

Note: `1876 400 Federation. Sundry letters, etc., Mrs Butler, Prof. Stuart, put in file of Northern Counties League 1875 and 1876' (HJ Wilson)

Material for 1876 relates mainly to Wilson's and Gledstone's visit to America to campaign against proposed introduction of regulation there.

Material for 1877 relates mainly to Geneva Congress and the dangers of Swiss doctors accepting some form of compromise on grounds of hygiene.

Material for 1879 relates in part to Mrs Butler's pamphlet, Government by Police.

(Note. A few individual items removed in 1901 for HJ Wilson and a few others missing, unaccounted for).
