Scope and Content

One handwritten volume, which includes minutes of the Newcastle Branch Committee, Half Yearly and General Board from 6 August 1886 to 5 February 1902. The volume includes one note dated 12 July 1893 resolving that a letter be sent to Mr Rich to make enquiries regarding the bill of quantities pasted onto page. Subjects discussed include the running of the Branch and printing work done, appointment and remuneration of staff and correspondence with clients. Printed 1889 and 1893 Rules of the Co-operative Printing Society pasted inside front cover. Loose items included in the volume are: an undated note headed Committees Report concerning the report of a small profit for the Newcastle Branch; a note instructing the secretary to see the employees arranging to commemorate the 21 years service of Mr Ashforth as manager; and a letter from Mr Boult of the Newcastle Branch to the Secretary of the Co-operative Printing Society in London dated 17 July 1901 endorsing the proposed alteration to the constitution of the society and suggesting amendments on the role of the branches.
