Scope and Content

The Collection includes Library Committee papers. Librarian's annual reports. Sheaf catalogues, mainly of large collections of donations and purchases, e.g. D.E.Evans Collection, Mazzani Collection, Morfydd Owen Collection. Ledgers and cash books relating to Library accounts. Registers of donations to the Library. Records of loans. 8 volumes requisition books. Periodicals accessions registers, 10 vols. for 1896-1922, plus 2 volumes loose-leaf files, 1922-44 and 2 sheaf binders, 1946-54. Three volumes of binding registers, 1908-46. Notebooks, and files relating to inter-library loans. Final typescript of the catalogue of the Fonmon Castle Library, published by the Library in 1970. Catalogue of the Tennyson Collection, published 1972. Catalogue of the Ifor B. Powell Pamphlett Collection, published 1972. Souvenir programmes for the opening of the new College buildings and Drapers' Library 1909. Gold key used to open the new library. Carmen, music by David Evans, words by David Slater, for the opening of the new library. Various papers relating to the opening of the Arts and Social Sciences Library 1976. Box of plans of the College Library. Notes and miscellaneous documents on the history of the Library, collected in the 1930s for the centenary history, 1983.

Miscellaneous manuscripts in the Library at March 1987 include: a fragment from a 13th or 14th century vellum manuscript of the Vulgate. Letterbook of Thomas Tod, Secretary to the Commissioners of Inquiry into the affairs of Malta, 1836-38. Facsimile of the handwriting of Mindoon Min, King of Burma 1853-78. Envelope marked 'Egypt 1892' containing photographs of Egyptian monuments. Manuscript of a novel, 'The Dancing Girl', signed WAB, May 1907.

The Collection includes the library archive collections of University College Cardiff, Cardiff Technical College, College of Advanced Technology, University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology and Cardiff University.
