In April 1931 the Finance Committee inherited the responsibilities of the Salaries Committee (see CC1/15) and a Special Economy Sub-Committee was established to carry out a full review of staffing and salaries. These duties were expanded in September 1931 to include all Council expenditure. In April 1934 the Special Economy Sub-Committee was replaced by the Finance (General Purposes) Sub-Committee with responsibility for staffing and salaries. In April 1946 these duties were transferred to the General Purposes Committee (see CC1/24) and then transferred back in March 1949 to the Finance (Staff) Sub-Committee. The minutes of the Special Economy and Finance (General Purposes) Sub-Committees are missing but their reports can be seen in the minutes of the Finance Committee.
